Manaslu Round Trek

Overview

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a spectacular and challenging journey that circles Mount Manaslu (8,163 m / 26,781 ft), the world’s eighth-highest peak. Often described as the “Annapurna of old,” this trek is a less crowded alternative to more popular routes, offering a raw and authentic Himalayan experience.

The trek takes you through an incredible diversity of landscapes, from lush, subtropical forests and cascading waterfalls in the lower regions to high-altitude alpine zones with stunning mountain views. A major highlight is the formidable Larkya La Pass (5,160 m / 16,930 ft), which provides a rewarding panoramic vista of several Himalayan peaks, including Himlung, Cheo Himal, and Annapurna II.

Beyond the breathtaking scenery, the Manaslu trek is a deep cultural immersion. The trail follows an ancient salt-trading route, leading you through remote villages where the unique blend of Hindu and Tibetan-Buddhist cultures is evident in the ancient monasteries, mani walls, and prayer flags. This trek is ideal for those seeking a physically demanding adventure with rich cultural insights and a true sense of off-the-beaten-path discovery.

Key Highlights

  • Diverse Landscapes: Traverse from subtropical lowlands with terraced fields and lush forests to high-altitude alpine zones with glacial landscapes and stunning mountain vistas.
  • Cultural Immersion: Discover the unique blend of Hindu and Tibetan-Buddhist cultures, visiting traditional villages, ancient monasteries, and mani walls.
  • Spectacular Scenery: Witness breathtaking views of Mount Manaslu (8,163m), the world’s eighth-highest peak, as well as Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Ngadi Chuli, and parts of the Annapurna range.
  • The Challenge: Conquer the formidable Larkya La Pass (5,160m), the highest point of the trek, which offers a rewarding panoramic view of the Himalayas.
  • Off-the-beaten-path Experience: Although its popularity has grown, the Manaslu Circuit still feels more remote and less crowded than the Everest or Annapurna Base Camp treks.
