Your Trusted Local Trekking Company in Nepal for Authentic Himalayan Adventures

Welcome to Hiking Friends Travel Nepal Pvt. Ltd. — a locally owned, government-licensed trekking and tour company based in the heart of Kathmandu, Nepal. With over 20 years of professional guiding experience across the Himalayas, we specialize in safe, authentic, and personalized treks, peak climbs, cultural tours, wildlife safaris, helicopter tours, and pilgrimage journeys across Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan.

Our philosophy is simple: your adventure begins with friends. We don’t just sell itineraries — we build experiences that connect you with the mountains, the people, and the living cultures of the Himalayas. Whether you’re trekking to Everest Base Camp, circling Annapurna, exploring the ancient walled kingdom of Upper Mustang, or embarking on a sacred pilgrimage to Mount Kailash, our team of licensed Nepalese guides is with you every step of the way.

If you’re looking for the best trekking company in Nepal that combines deep local expertise, transparent pricing, genuine hospitality, and a commitment to safety, you’re in the right place.

Who We Are

Hiking Friends Travel Nepal was founded by a close-knit team of Nepalese trekking professionals who have spent more than two decades leading travelers through the world’s greatest mountain landscapes. After working for many of Nepal’s best-known agencies, our founders decided to start a company that does things differently — one that puts trekkers, guides, porters, and local communities at the center of every journey.

We are not a booking agency, not an online marketplace, and not a foreign-owned reseller. We are a Nepal-based trekking operator with our own office in Kathmandu, our own permanent team of government-licensed guides, and long-standing partnerships with teahouse owners, porter families, helicopter operators, and local communities across the Himalayas. When you book with Hiking Friends Travel Nepal, your money goes directly into the local Nepalese economy — not to overseas agents or middlemen.

Company Credentials & Licenses

Travelers deserve to know exactly who they are trekking with. Hiking Friends Travel Nepal is fully registered and licensed under the laws of the Government of Nepal:

Company Name: Hiking Friends Travel Nepal Pvt. Ltd.

Tourism Office License No.: 3331/081/082

Company Registration No.: 330032/080/081

Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) Membership No.: 1807

All of our trekking and climbing guides hold valid government licenses issued by the Department of Tourism and Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM), and bring years of hands-on field experience on Nepal’s trails.

Our Story — Built by Guides, for Travelers

The Himalayas are in our blood. Our founders grew up in the mountain districts of Nepal — Solukhumbu, Pokhara, Gorkha, and the hills around Kathmandu Valley — and started their careers as porters and assistant guides on the classic trekking routes. Over 20+ years, they worked their way up to senior guide and trek leader positions, summited trekking peaks, trained new guides, and led thousands of trekkers safely through high-altitude terrain.

After years of seeing how some agencies cut corners — underpaying porters, assigning inexperienced guides, overloading itineraries, and treating travelers like numbers — our team decided to build something better. Hiking Friends Travel Nepal was created with three promises:

  1. Safety is never compromised — proper acclimatization, trained guides, real emergency plans.
  2. Guides and porters are treated fairly — fair wages, proper gear, insurance, and respectful working conditions.
  3. Travelers get a genuine experience — personalized itineraries, honest communication, and real cultural connection, not just a checklist of viewpoints.

That’s why travelers who trek with us often return to trek with us again — and why so many of our bookings come from word-of-mouth recommendations.

Why Choose Hiking Friends Travel Nepal?

There are hundreds of trekking agencies in Kathmandu. Here’s why travelers choose us:

🏔️ Local Himalayan Experts

We are Nepalese. We live here. Our guides were born and raised in these hills. We know every switchback, every weather window, every hidden teahouse, and every local story that brings a trek to life. You’re not just hiring a guide — you’re walking with a friend who calls these mountains home.

🛡️ Safety First on Every Trek

Every itinerary is designed with proper acclimatization days, realistic daily distances, and built-in contingency plans. Our guides are trained in first aid and altitude sickness recognition, carry pulse oximeters and first-aid kits, and maintain 24/7 contact with our Kathmandu office. We work with trusted helicopter rescue providers for emergency evacuations and require all trekkers to carry valid travel insurance.

👥 Small Groups & Personalized Service

We don’t run mass-market departures. Our groups are intentionally small so that our guides can look after every individual. We offer fixed-departure group treks, private treks, family-friendly trips, solo-traveler-friendly departures, and fully custom journeys — at your pace.

💰 Transparent Pricing — No Hidden Costs

We quote one clear price and explain exactly what is included and what is not. Only a 5% deposit is required to confirm your booking; the balance is payable on arrival in Nepal. No hidden charges, no surprise fees, no commission-driven detours.

🌱 Responsible & Sustainable Tourism

We believe travel should give back. We:

Pay fair wages to guides and porters and provide them with proper gear and insurance

Support locally owned teahouses, family-run lodges, and community enterprises

Promote leave-no-trace principles on the trail

Contribute to local schools, porter welfare programs, and trail cleanup initiatives

Respect and protect the cultural heritage and fragile mountain ecosystems of the Himalayas

📞 24/7 Support — From First Inquiry to Arrival Home

From the moment you message us on WhatsApp or email, you’ll be talking directly to a real person who understands Nepal trekking. We help with pre-trip preparation, packing lists, visa guidance, flight recommendations, and airport pickup. During your trek, our Kathmandu office is always reachable. After your trip, we stay in touch — many of our trekkers become lifelong friends.

Our Commitment to Our Guides & Porters

A trekking company is only as strong as its team in the field. We are proud to be a fair-trekking employer. Every guide and porter working with Hiking Friends Travel Nepal receives:

Government-stipulated fair wages paid on time

Proper high-altitude clothing and equipment

Accidental and medical insurance coverage

Reasonable load limits (no porter is overloaded)

Respectful working conditions and adequate rest

Opportunities for training and career development

Happy, well-treated staff deliver better, safer experiences for you. That’s good for everyone on the mountain.

Best time to trek in Nepal? Spring (March–May) for rhododendron blooms and stable weather; autumn (September–November) for crystal-clear Himalayan views — the classic trekking season. Winter offers quiet trails at lower elevations, and the monsoon season (June–August) is ideal for rain-shadow regions like Upper Mustang and Dolpo.
